Biography

Associate Investigator at the Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI)

Positions

  • I received my Ph.D. from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in USA.
  • I am currently an Associate Investigator at the Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI), where I lead a research program established in 2020 to investigate the genetics of human diseases.
  • My lab focuses on understanding the formation and molecular consequences of large-scale DNA alterations, particularly structural variants (SVs) in genomic disorders.
  • Our work has revealed key molecular features of SVs and led to multiple gene-disease discoveries and key novel insights into DNA mutational processes.
  • We leverage advanced genomic technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration to tackle one of the most challenging areas of human genetics, with direct implications for improving diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Areas of special interest
