- Dr. David Gokhman investigates the genetic changes that made us human, focusing on differences between modern humans, archaic humans, and great apes.
- His work produced the first DNA methylation maps of extinct humans and provided insights into Denisovan anatomy, recognized as Science Magazine’s Breakthrough of the Year.
- His lab combines computational and experimental approaches to study how gene regulation has shaped human anatomy, physiology, and health.
- The lab has developed human-chimpanzee hybrid cells and methods to map the effects of genetic changes that distinguish humans from our closest relatives.
- His honors include the Dan David Young Researcher Award, the Hans Wiener Prize, and TheMarker’s 40 Under 40.
- He earned his degrees at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Stanford University and is currently an Assistant Professor at the Weizmann Institute of Science.
