Biography
Professor Zornitza Stark is a nationally and internationally recognised expert in clinical, diagnostic and research genomics.
Positions
- Over the past decade, she has played a leadership role in numerous translational genomics projects through Melbourne Genomics, Australian Genomics, and the Genomics Health Futures Mission, all aimed at accelerating rare disease diagnosis.
- This includes leading high-profile studies demonstrating the utility of ultra-rapid testing in acutely unwell children; genomic newborn screening; and automated reanalysis of genomic data.
- She has made substantial contribution to the health economic evaluation of genomic testing in rare disease, with the evidence generated used to inform policy and funding decisions nationally at federal and state levels, as well as internationally.
- Professor Stark also makes a significant contribution to the development and implementation of international standards in diagnostic genomics, through roles with ClinGen, PanelApp Australia, the Gene Curation Coalition and the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health.
- She has co-authored over 300 manuscripts, 3 book chapters, and attracted over $70M in research funding.
