Biography
Sara Frias Vázquez, holds a PhD in Science from UNAM and completed postdoctoral training at NIEHS/Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA.
Positions
- She is a Mexican human cytogeneticist and Senior Researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the National Institute of Pediatrics (INP).
- She is Coordinator of the Peripheral Research Unit of the Institute of Biomedical Research, UNAM, at the INP.
- Her research focuses on Fanconi anemia, chromosomal instability and the origin of chromosome alterations. She is an Emeritus Level III member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers and has authored 141 scientific publications.
- She teaches human cytogenetics and molecular biology at undergraduate, graduate, and medical specialty levels at UNAM and INP. She has supervised 52 completed theses and has received 40 awards and distinctions for her scientific and academic work.
