Biography
Prof Edward Tobias is an educator and researcher in medical genetics and genomics.
Positions
- Prof Tobias gained his medical degree, plus his BSc and PhD in molecular biology, in the UK.
- He is also an (honorary) consultant clinical geneticist in the NHS and is an active invited member of several international genomics committees.
- Currently, he is Prof. of Genetic Medicine, Univ. of Glasgow, Scotland, UK, & Hon.
- NHS consultant clinical geneticist. He is chair of HUGO-International’s Education Committee & member of both the ESHG Education Committee & the ECMGG clinical exam board. A recipient of the ESHG Education Award, he continues to develop digital learning resources (including apps & courses) used worldwide, assisted by his many colleagues in Glasgow & internationally.
- Personal qualifications: BSc (1st class Hons), MBChB, MRCP, PhD (Molecular Biology), FRCP, FHEA, FAoP (Assocn. of Physicians).
- He is the recipient of the Education Award 2021 of the European Society of Human Genetics and is the invited chair, & a sub-committee lead, of the 40-member Education Committee of the global Human Genome Organisation (HUGO International).
